Triathlon
On Saturday, 6th May 2017, the school took part in the annual MKV Triathlon (a multi-discipline sport consisting of swimming, cycling and running) in search for fitness and a rewarding challenge. The event was organised under the auspices of the Parents, Teachers and Friends of ISA (PTFA).
On that day, a group of well-prepared and enthusiastic triathletes, parents, friends and well-wishers converged at the MKV Club House at 7.00am prompt. The day began with a stretch out of their muscles in readiness for the task ahead. All arrangements for a safe event had been made: athletes had been briefed on safety standards in advance; helmets were compulsory for all bike races, there was adequate security cover and even a paramedic on stand by.
Depending on their age and class, triathletes had to swim, cycle and run a different number of laps sequentially. The swim took place in the MKV Swimming Pool and the cycling and running took place on pre-determined routes around MKV. The bike and running routes were sign posted and there were marshals to help participants at each step of the way. It was a little difficult running after the bike ride but equally interesting to see athletes defy jelly feet and run to the finish line.
The triathlon ended by midday and the awards ceremony was held in front of the MKV Club House. All athletes received a participation medal and these overall winners received special medals:
- Benai Efua Nyamekoa Forson
- Willem Adriaan Van Der Walt
- Hannah Jennings
- Tomas Emilio Valenzuela
- Agustina Loreto Valenzuela Portilla
- Daniel Jennings
- Christian Gonzalo Teran Servan
- Amanda Mulawarman
