Gye Nyame Visit to Cocoa Farm

Reminiscent of Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, Our Gye Nyame class (Year 5 & Year 6) is learning about Chocolate in their Humanities lessons and they visited the Kenyase Settlement Camp Prisons’ cocoa farm and cocoa drying and packaging facilities on Tuesday, 11^th October 2016.

The group learnt about harvesting and opening of cocoa pods, fermentation and drying of the cocoa beans, as well as bagging and selling processes.

 To crown it all, they brought back not only cherished memories, but also some cocoa pods as souvenirs and for decoration of their classroom. We are truly grateful to Kenyase Settlement Camp Prisons for giving the children an opportunity to learn about the real world!!!
