2023 Student Council Elections

On Friday, 10th February 2023, an essential element of our annual Student Council electioneering process was held in Assembly time. Thirty-six (36) candidates vying for various positions gave their speeches. It was  delightful to see some budding politicians at work!

Thereafter, elections for the Student Council Leadership (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) were conducted and all students from Year 1 to Year 9 cast their votes. The voting for Class Representatives will be held on Monday, 13th February.

The election provides a unique opportunity for students to select their representatives who will be their voice for issues and concerns about student life. Student Council members develop leadership qualities by driving change, organising, and carrying out school activities and service projects. Students who are interested in Student Council must:

–   Be flexible and exhibit the potential for leadership.

–   Display positive classroom behaviour.

–   Have a genuine interest in the welfare of others.

– Consistently portray qualities of responsibility, empathy, courage, integrity, and perseverance.

As part of the campaign process, candidates had to make a poster by hand for display on designated notice boards at the Forecourt. Professional posters were not allowed. They also had to give a short speech on why they wanted to run for office.
